- Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water’s edge. Mark 4:1 NIV
- That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took Him along, just as He was, in the boat. Mark 4:35, 36 NIV
- And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. Mark 4:37 ESV
- But Jesus was in the stern, asleep [with His head] on the [sailor’s leather] cushion. And they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are about to die?” Mark 4:38 AMP
- Then Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the sea. “Silence!” He commanded. “Be still!” And the wind died down, and it was perfectly calm. Mark 4:39 BSB
- And He said to them, “Why are you so timid? How is it that you have no faith?” Mark 4:40 NASB 1977
- When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an impure spirit came from the tombs to meet Him. Mark 5:2 NIV
- For Jesus had been saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” Mark 5:8 AMP
- Jesus gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out [of the man] and entered the pigs. The herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea; and they were drowned [one after the other] in the sea. Mark 5:13 AMP
- Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region. Mark 5:17 NIV
- As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed. Mark 5:18-20 NIV
- When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around Him while He was by the lake. Mark 5:21 NIV
