When God spoke to Satan about wisdom, he did not speak about Solomon (who had earthly wisdom) but Daniel (who had both earthly & spiritual wisdom; the former seen in his being in high official positions under several Kings and the latter in his walk with God). 

Some characteristics of Daniel

1. Had an extraordinary spirit

  • Then this Daniel, because of the extraordinary spirit within him, began distinguishing himself among the commissioners and the satraps, and the king planned to appoint him over the entire realm. Daniel 6:3 AMP

2. Resolution

  • Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine Daniel 1:8 NIV

3. Man of integrity

  • the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligentDaniel 6:4 NIV

4. Man of Scripture

  • I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. Daniel 9:2 NIV

5. Man of Prayer

  • he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days. Daniel 6:10 NKJV

6. Man of Fasting

7. Righteous

  • Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness,” says the Lord GOD. Ezekiel 14:14 NKJV

8. Served GOD Continously

  • And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” Daniel 6:20 NKJV

God's Rewards to Daniel

1. Favour

  • God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs Daniel 1:9 ESV

2. Knowledge/Wisdom/Understanding

  • As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. Daniel 1:17 NKJV

3. Promise of a Good End

  • But as for you (Daniel), go your way until the end [of your life]; for you will rest and rise again for your allotted inheritance at the end of the age.” Daniel 12:13 AMP
