Encourage Yourself
- David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. 1 Samuel 30:6 KJV
Encourage Others
- But continually encourage one another every day, as long as it is called
“Today” [and there is an opportunity], so that none of you will be
hardened [into settled rebellion] by the deceitfulness of sin [its
cleverness, delusive glamour, and sophistication]. Hebrews 3:13 AMP - So then, let us pursue [with enthusiasm] the things which make for peace and the building up of one another [things which lead to spiritual growth]. Romans 14:19 AMP
- Let each one of us make it a practice to please (make happy) his neighbor for his good and for his true welfare, to edify him [to strengthen him and build him up spiritually]. Romans 15:2 AMPC
- Therefore encourage (admonish, exhort) one another and edify (strengthen and build up) one another, just as you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 AMPC
Means of Encouragement
- Prophesy: the one who prophesies speaks to people for edification, exhortation, and consolation. 1 Corinthians 14:3 NASB
Encouragers
- Now Joseph, a Levite and native of Cyprus who was surnamed Barnabas by the apostles, which interpreted means Son of Encouragement, Sold a field which belonged to him and brought the sum of money and laid it at the feet of the apostles. Acts 4:36-37 AMPC
- When Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple. Then Barnabas brought him to the apostles and described how Saul had seen the Lord, who spoke to him on the road to Damascus, and how Saul had spoken boldly in that city in the name of Jesus.
