- Job: The Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. Then all his brothers and sisters and all who had known him before came to him, and they ate bread with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him over all the [distressing] adversities that the Lord had brought on him. And each one gave him a piece of money, and each a ring of gold. And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys. He had seven sons and three daughters. And he called the name of the first [daughter] Jemimah, and the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-happuch. In all the land there were found no women so fair as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers. After this, Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons and his grandsons, four generations. Job 42:10-16 AMP
The devil has to repay
- People do not despise a thief If he steals to satisfy himself when he is starving. Yet when he is found, he must restore sevenfold;
He may have to give up all the substance of his house. Proverbs 6:30-31 NKJV - People do not despise a thief if he steals To satisfy himself when he is hungry; But when he is found, he must repay seven times [what he stole]; He must give all the property of his house [if necessary to meet his fine]. Proverbs 6:30-31 AMP
- The thief1 comes only to steal and kill and destroy John 10:10
COMMENT: 1Can be understood to be a referral to the Devil – Satan. The devil has to restore to us sevenfold whatever he has stolen from us.
A Prayer
- O satisfy us with Your lovingkindness in the morning [now, before we grow older], That we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Make us glad in proportion to the days You have afflicted us, And the years we have suffered evil. Psalms 90:14-15 AMP
- Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days! Make us glad according to the days in which You have afflicted us, The years in which we have seen evil. Psalms 90:14-15 NKJV
