Examples of Hard Workers

1. Ruth

  • And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves. So she came and has continued from early morning until now, except when she rested a little in the house. Ruth 2:7 AMPC

2. Daniel

  • Then the [other two] commissioners and the satraps began trying to find a reason to bring a complaint against Daniel concerning the [administration of the] kingdom; but they could find no reason for an accusation or evidence of corruption, because he was faithful [a man of high moral character and personal integrity], and no negligence or corruption [of any kind] was found in him. Daniel 6:4 AMP

3. Paul

  • But by the [remarkable] grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not without effect. In fact, I worked harder than all of the apostles, though it was not I, but the grace of God [His unmerited favor and blessing which was] with me. 1 Corinthians 15:10 AMP

4. Ants

  • Go to the ant, O lazy one; Observe her ways and be wise, Which, having no chief, Overseer or ruler, She prepares her food in the summer And brings in her provisions [of food for the winter] in the harvest. Proverbs 6:6-8 AMP

Rewards for work

  • Whatever you do [whatever your task may be], work from the soul [that is, put in your very best effort], as [something done] for the Lord and not for men, knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [greatest] reward. It is the Lord Christ whom you [actually] serve. Colossians 3:23-24 AMP
  • There is profit in all hard work, but endless talk leads only to poverty. Proverbs 14:23 HCSB

A little extra work may go a long way

  • Rebekah: So the servant ran to meet her and said, “Please let me have a little water from your jar.” “Drink, my lord,” she replied, and she quickly lowered her jar to her hands and gave him a drink. After she had given him a drink, she said, “I will also draw water for your camels, until they have had enough to drink.” And she quickly emptied her jar into the trough and ran back to the well to draw water, until she had drawn water for all his camels. Genesis 24:17-20 BSB

Rebekah was only asked for a little water. However she not only gave Abraham’s servant water to drink but drew water for his 10 camels 🐪 🐫 🐪 🐪 🐫 🐪 🐪 🐫 🐪 🐪  (Genesis 24:10) possibly upto 300 gallons (See here) of her own volition.

Laziness not acceptable

  • The lazy man says, “There is a lion in the road! A fierce lion is in the streets!” As a door turns on its hinges, So does the lazy man on his bed. The lazy man buries his hand in the bowl; It wearies him to bring it back to his mouth. The lazy man is wiser in his own eyes Than seven men who can answer sensibly. Proverbs 26:13-16 NKJV
  • How long will you lie down, O lazy one? When will you arise from your sleep [and learn self-discipline]? “Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to lie down and rest”— So your poverty will come like an approaching prowler who walks [slowly, but surely] And your need [will come] like an armed man [making you helpless]. Proverbs 6:9-11 AMP
