Key Verse

  1. Success i.e. Material Prosperity

Note sequence of prosperity: 1. soul (already prospering as indicated by “even as thy soul prospereth”) and 2. bodily health & material prosperity

Everything belongs to GOD

  • ‘The silver is Mine and the gold is Mine,’ declares the LORD of hosts. Haggai 2:8 AMP
  • “For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills. “I know every bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the field is Mine. “If I were hungry, I would not tell you, For the world and all it contains are Mine. Psalm 50:10-12 AMP

God's will that we prosper

  • let them say continually, “Let the Lord be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.” Psalm 35:27 NKJV
  • Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. 3 John 1:2 NASB

Financial freedom

  • “I relieved his shoulder of the burden, His hands were freed from the basket.  Psalm 81:6 NASB
  • And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. Isaiah 10:27 KJV

Prosperous men of God

  • Abraham: Abrama was very rich in livestock, silver, and gold. Genesis 13:2 NASB
  • Solomon: All King Solomon’s drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; silver was not considered valuable in the days of Solomon. 2 Chronicles 9:20 NASB
  • All King Solomon’s drinking vessels were gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were pure gold. Not one was silver, for this was accounted as nothing in the days of Solomon. 1 Kings 10:21 NKJV
  • Job: He also possessed 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke (pairs) of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and a very great number of servants, so that this man was the greatest [and wealthiest and most respected] of all the men of the east (northern Arabia). Job 1:3 AMP
aBetween the three generations starting from Abraham, prosperity encompassed various things. 
Abraham: livestock, silver, and gold. Genesis 13:2 NASB 
Isaac: flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. Genesis 26: 14 NKJV 
Jacob: large flocks, maidservants and menservants, and camels and donkeys Genesis 30:43 BSB 

Those who recognised source of Prosperity

  • Abraham: But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have raised my hand to the Lord, God Most High, the Possessor of heaven and earth, that I will take nothing, from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich’ Genesis 14:22-23 NKJV
  • Jacob: “What can I give you?” Laban asked. “You do not need to give me anything,” Jacob replied… Thus Jacob became exceedingly prosperous. He owned large flocks, maidservants and menservants, and camels and donkeys. Genesis 30:31&43 BSB

Awesome Prosperity

  • Then Isaac planted [seed] in that land [as a farmer] and reaped in the same year a hundred times [as much as he had planted], and the Lord blessed and favored him. And the man [Isaac] became great and gained more and more until he became very wealthy and extremely distinguished; he owned flocks and herds and a great household [with a number of servants], and the Philistines envied him. Genesis 26:12-14 AMP
  • So the ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-edom and all his household (family). Now King David was told, “The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.” 2 Samuel 6:11-12 AMP

3. Having God's Presence

  • the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house for three months; and the LORD blessed3 the family of Obed-edom and all that he had. 1 Chronicles 13:14 NASB

How great a blessing it would have been to have to be reported to the King about his prosperity?

4. As answer to prayer

  • Now it pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this thing. God said to him, “Because you have asked this and have not asked for yourself a long life nor for wealth, nor for the lives of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to recognize justice, behold, I have done as you asked. I have given you a wise and discerning heart (mind), so that no one before you was your equal, nor shall anyone equal to you arise after you. I have also given you what you have not asked, both wealth and honor, so that there will not be anyone equal to you among the kings, for all your days. 1 Kings 3:10-13 AMP

Prosperity can come as answer to prayer; even if it is prayer for other things.

  • “Then you will see and be radiant, And your heart will tremble [with joy] and rejoice Because the abundant wealth of the seas will be brought to you, The wealth of the nations will come to you. Isaiah 60:5 AMP
  • “Your gates will be open continually; They shall not be shut day or
    night, So that people may bring to you the wealth of the nations— With
    their kings led in procession. Isaiah 60:11 AMP
  • For to the person who pleases Him God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy;
    but to the sinner He gives the work of gathering and collecting so that
    he may give to one who pleases God. Ecclesiastes 2:26 AMP 
  • Though he heaps up silver like dust, And piles up clothing like clay—He may pile it up, but the just will wear it, And the innocent will divide the silver. Job 27:16-17 NKJV

  • And the LORD had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they granted them what they requested. Thus they plundered the Egyptians. Exodus 12:36 NKJV
  • He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold, and from among their tribes no one faltered. Psalm 105:37 NIV

Can ask for Prosperity NOW

Pass on Prosperity to generations

  • A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children Proverbs 13:22 ESV
  • May the LORD give you increase more and more, You and your children. Psalm 115:14 NKJV
  • Houses and riches are an inheritance from fathers, But a prudent wife is from the LORD. Proverbs 19:14 NKJV
