SALVATION – Forgiveness of Sins

Why Do I Need Salvation?

  • all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God Rom 3:23 NIV
  • the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Rom 6:23 KJV
  • your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. Is 59:2 NKJV

What is sin?

Read: SIN

Sin is primarily against GOD

  • Joseph: There is no one greater in this house than I, and he has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do this great evil, and sin against God?” Gen 39:9 NASB
  • David: Against You, You only, have I sinned And done that which is evil in Your sight Ps 51:4 AMP

What Can Be Done?

  • If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose]. 1 John 1:9 AMP
  • Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins Acts 2:38 AMP
  • Believe in the Lord Jesus [as your personal Savior and entrust yourself to Him] and you will be saved, you and your household [if they also believe].” Acts 16:31 AMP
  • Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.”And you forgave the guilt of my sin. Psalms 32:5 NIV
  • If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. John 1:9 ESV

COMMENT: In simple terms

  1. Admit you are a sinner (Repent of wrongdoing & confess sins to God)
  2. Believe in the Lord Jesus as your Personal Savior
  3. Be Baptised in water

When should I turn to GOD?

  • Turn to the Lord before it’s too late. Call out to him while He’s still ready to help you. Isaiah 55:6 NIRV
  • Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call on Him [for salvation] while He is near. Isaiah 55:6 AMP
  • For He says, “AT THE ACCEPTABLE TIME (the time of grace) I LISTENED TO YOU, AND I HELPED YOU ON THE DAY OF SALVATION.” Behold, now is “THE ACCEPTABLE TIME,” behold, now is “THE DAY OF SALVATION” 2 Cor 6:2 AMP
