The "Undesirable" Mindset

    • And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper Romans 1:28 NASB
    • “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. Luke 12:29 NKJV
    • among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. Ephesians 2:3 NKJV
    • So this I say and solemnly testify in [the name of] the Lord [as in His presence], that you must no longer live as the heathen (the Gentiles) do in their perverseness [in the folly, vanity, and emptiness of their souls and the futility] of their mindsEphesians 4:17 AMP
    •  Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind Colossians 2:18 NKJV
    • To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. Titus 1:15 NKJV
    • For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace Romans 8:6 NASB

Other versions

  • This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind Ephesians 4:17 NKJV
  • For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:6 NKJV

The Problem

  • But I discern in my bodily members [in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh] a different law (rule of action) at war against the law of my mind (my reason) and making me a prisoner to the law of sin that dwells in my bodily organs [in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh]. Romans 7:23 AMP
  • [That is] because the mind of the flesh [with its carnal thoughts and purposes] is hostile to God, for it does not submit itself to God’s Law; indeed it cannot. Romans 8:7 AMP
  • truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. Hebrews 11:15 NKJV

What to Do

  • For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have. 2 Corinthians 8:12 NKJV
  • Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. Romans 12:2 AMP
  • And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitudeEphesians 4:23 AMP
  • Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus Philippians 2:5 NKJV
  • Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin 1 Peter 4:1 NKJV
  • and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him Colossians 3:10 NASB

Other versions

  • I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2 NKJV

How?

  • Believe what God has given you: For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7 AMP
  • Spend time with the Holy Spirit: according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit Titus 3:5 NKJV
  • Spend time with Word: Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify the church, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word [of God], so that [in turn] He might present the church to Himself in glorious splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy [set apart for God] and blameless. Ephesians 5:25-27 AMP
  • Thinking on right things: Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart]. Philippians 4:8 AMP
