Being with God

  • Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. Psalm 84:10 NIV
  • One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple. Psalm 27:4 NKJV

Seek to be in God's Presence

  • Seek and deeply long for His face and His presence continually. Psalm 105:4 AMP
  • When You said, “Seek My face [in prayer, require My presence as your greatest need],” my heart said to You, “Your face, O LORD, I will seek [on the authority of Your word].” Psalm 27:8 AMP
  • The upright will dwell in Your presence. Psalm 140:13 NASB

God instructs us to seek His Presence and promises dwelling in His Presence.

How do you Experience GOD's Presence?

Search = specifically to worship
Find = to come forth {to} that {is} appear
In other words, when one worships God with all their heart, God’s Presence appears i.e. one has an Encounter with God.

Linger in GOD's Presence

  • And so the LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses returned to the camp, his attendant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent. Exodus 33:11 AMP
  • Do not be in a hurry to leave the king’s presence. Ecclesiastes 8:3 NIV
  • Now the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and stay there, and I will give you the stone tablets with the law and the commandments which I have written for their instruction.” Exodus 24:12 AMP

People who sought GOD's Presence actively

  • Joshua: Thus the LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young assistant Joshua son of Nun would not leave the tent. Exodus 33:11 BSB
  • David: When You said, “Seek My face [in prayer, require My presence as your greatest need],” my heart said to You, “Your face, O LORD, I will seek [on the authority of Your word].” Psalm 27:8 AMP

Become a Carrier of GOD's Presence

  • Jesus answered, “If anyone [really] loves Me, he will keep My word (teaching); and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our dwelling place with him. John 14:23 AMP
  • And it came about, when Moses was coming down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the testimony were in Moses’ hand as he was coming down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because of his speaking with Him. Exodus 34:29 NASB

Regarding Moses, the above passage was preceded by

  • He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14 NKJV

Things that happen in God's Presence

1. Deliverance

  • Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him For the saving acts of His Presence. Psalm 42:5 NASB
  • In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old. Isaiah 63:9 NKJV

Example

  • About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly a strong earthquake shook the foundations of the prison. At once all the doors flew open and everyone’s chains came loose. Acts 16:25-26 BSB

2. Protection

  • He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. Psalm 91:1 AMPC

4. GOD Speaks

  • Then Moses went up to the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. The glory and brilliance of the Lord rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh day God called to Moses from the midst of the cloud. Exodus 24:15-16 AMP
  • Then the LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD. Behold, the LORD is about to pass by.” … And after the fire came a still, small voice. 1 Kings 19:11-12 BSB

5. Blessings

  • the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that he had. 1 Chronicles 13:14 AMP
  • For You meet him with blessings of good things Psalm 21:3 AMP

  • For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand [anywhere else]; I would rather be a doorkeeper and stand at the threshold in the house of my God than to dwell [at ease] in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a Sun and Shield; the Lord bestows [present] grace and favor and [future] glory (honor, splendor, and heavenly bliss)! No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. Psalm 84:10-11 AMPC

Normally, one takes gifts to give when going to meet someone important. On the contrary, when GOD meets us, He gives us blessings.

  • the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to the children of Israel, and get from them a rod from each father’s house, all their leaders according to their fathers’ houses—twelve rods. Write each man’s name on his rod. And you shall write Aaron’s name on the rod of Levi. For there shall be one rod for the head of each father’s house. Then you shall place them in the tabernacle of meeting before the Testimony, where I meet with you. And it shall be that the rod of the man whom I choose will blossom … Now on the next day Moses went into the Tent of the Testimony, and the rod of Aaron of the tribe of Levi had sprouted and put out buds and produced blossoms and yielded [ripe] almonds. Numbers 17:1-5 NKJV & 17:8 AMP

8. Clear Instruction

  • Now the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and stay there, and I will give you the stone tablets with the Law and the commandments which I have written for their instruction.” …  It came about at the end of forty days and nights that the Lord gave me the two tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant. Exodus 24:12 NASB & Deuteronomy 9:11 NASB

Moses

  • Moses: He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14 NKJV
  • David: Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Psalm 51:11 KJV
