A very real place

- if your eye is causing you to sin, throw it away; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than, having two eyes, to be thrown into hell, where their worm does not die, and the fire is not extinguished. Mark 9:47-48 NASB
Originally prepared for the devil
- “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, you accursed people, into the eternal fire which has been prepared1 for the devil and his angels Matthew 25:41 NASB
Under the earth
- As soon as Moses had finished saying all this, the ground beneath them split open, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households—all Korah’s men and all their possessions. They went down alive into Sheol2 with all they owned. The earth closed over them, and they vanished from the assembly. Numbers 16:31-33 BSB
Place of torment
- In Hades (the realm of the dead), being in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom (paradise). And he cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in severe agony3 in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things [all the comforts and delights], and Lazarus likewise bad things [all the discomforts and distresses]; but now he is comforted here [in paradise], while you are in severe agony. Causes for sorrow for those in hell
1. Past: That it was so easy to have got saved
- Whosoever shall call upon the name4 of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13 ASV
- IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD [invoking, adoring, and worshiping the Lord Jesus] SHALL BE SAVED (rescued spiritually).’ Acts 2:21 AMP
- Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Isaiah 55:6 NKJV
- “The harvest is past, The summer is ended, And we are not saved!” Jeremiah 8:20 NKJV

2. Present: The torture currently in Hell

How to avoid Hell
- “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 BLB
- if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Romans 10:9-10 ESV
- “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. John 5:24 NIV 1984
