Promises of Peace

  • The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually). Numbers 6:26 AMP
  • Now may the Lord of peace Himself grant you His peace at all times and in every way [that peace and spiritual well-being that comes to those who walk with Him, regardless of life’s circumstances]. 2 Thessalonians 3:16 AMP
  • The Lord will bless His people with peace. Psalm 29:11 NASB
  • He makes peace in your borders Psalm 147:14 AMP

Peace our default position

  • But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought1 us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 BSB
  • Peace I leave2 with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.] John 14:27 AMP

Those who experienced Peace/Rest

  • Solomon: For he was ruling over everything west of the [Euphrates] River, from Tiphsah to Gaza, over all the kings west of the [Euphrates] River; and he had peace on all sides around him. 1 Kings 4:24 AMP
  • But now that the LORD my God has given me rest3 [from war] on every side, there is neither adversary nor misfortune [confronting me]. 1 Kings 5:4 AMP

Peace an umpire

  • let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. Colossians 3:15 AMPC

An umpire is especially important when when there is a foul e.g. in a match. Likewise if you lose peace in a decision or plan, question it to see whether you should proceed. On the contrary you can’t do something unbiblical and say you have peace about it e.g. yoking yourself with an unbeliever. Read: 2 Corinthians 6:14

What we can do if we experience lack of Peace

1. Focus on GOD

  • “You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation]. Isaiah 26:3 AMP
  • May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing4 [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises. Romans 15:13 AMP

2. Pray

  • Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 AMPC

3. Obey GOD's Word

  • My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you. Proverbs 3:1-2 NKJV

4. Love GOD's Word

  • Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble. Psalm 119:165 NKJV

5. Go to Jesus

  • “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. Matthew 11:28 AMP
Just crying out the name Jesus can bring peace.

Peace regarding enemies

  • When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Proverbs 16:7 AMP
