God looking for seekers

  • The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who act wisely, who seek God. Psalms 14:2 NASB
  • God looks down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there is anyone who acts wisely, Who seeks after God. Psalms 53:2 NASB
  • Seek and deeply long for the LORD and His strength [His power, His might]; Seek and deeply long for His face and His presence continually. Psalm 105:4 AMP
  • You have said, Seek My face [inquire for and require My presence as your vital need]. My heart says to You, Your face (Your presence), Lord, will I seek, inquire for, and require [of necessity and on the authority of Your Word]. Psalm 27:8 AMPC
  • Now set your heart and your soul to seek3 the LORD your God. 1 Chronicles 22:19 NKJV
  • Seek the LORD [search diligently for Him and regard Him as the foremost necessity of your life], All you humble of the land Who have practiced His ordinances and have kept His commandments; Seek righteousness, seek humility [regard them as vital]. Perhaps you will be hidden [and pardoned and rescued] In the day of the LORD’S anger. Zephaniah 2:3 AMP
God asks us to seek Him continuously.
God considers those wise, who seek Him. Read: WISDOM 
“looks down” is in present continuous – meaning He is currently looking i.e. even right now as you read this! 

Purpose of Life

  • And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their lands and territories. This was so that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grasp for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. For in Him we live and move and exist [that is, in Him we actually have our being], as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’ Acts 17:26-28 AMP

Full Passage

  • Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek5 and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking receives, and he who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who keeps on knocking, it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 AMP

Seeking & Reward

God promises a reward for seeking Him

Greatest reward

  • After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” Gen 15:1 NKJV

What is the greatest reward you can get from God? God himself i.e. His Presence

Benefits of Seeking GOD

1. GOD's Presence​

  • you will seek Me and find6 Me, when you search7 for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13 NKJV
  • Seek5 the LORD while He may be found6; Call upon Him while He is near. Isaiah 55:6 NKJV
  • Then they will seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.” … He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter and former rain to the earth. Hosea 5:15-6:3 NKJV
  • But when they in their trouble turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and [in desperation earnestly] sought Him, He was found by them. 2 Chronicles 15:4 AMPC

Search = specifically to worship
Find =  to come forth {to} that {is} appear 
In other words, when one worships God with all their heart, God’s Presence appears i.e. one has an Encounter with God.

2. Favour & Blessing

  • For I was ashamed to request troops and horsemen from the king to protect us from the enemy along the way, because we had told the king, “The hand of our God is favorable toward all those who seek Him, but His power and His anger are against all those who abandon (turn away from) Him.” Ezra 8:22 AMP
  • The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him. Lamentations 3:25 NKJV
  • Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face. Selah Psalm 24:3-6 NKJV

3. Rest & Peace

  • He commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to observe the law and the commandment. He also removed the high places and the incense altars from all the cities of Judah, and the kingdom was quiet under him. And he built fortified cities in Judah, for the land had rest; he had no war in those years, because the Lord had given him rest. Therefore he said to Judah, “Let us build these cities and make walls around them, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us, because we have sought the Lord our God; we have sought Him, and He has given us rest on every side.” So they built and prospered. 2 Chronicles 14:4-7 NKJV
  • And all Judah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and sought Him [yearning for Him] with their whole desire, and He was found by them. And the Lord gave them rest and peace round about. 2 Chronicles 15:15 AMPC

  • He sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God; and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him prosper. 2 Chronicles 26:5 NKJV

6. Joy

Not seeking God not good

  • He did evil because he did not set his heart to seek and worship and honor the LORD. 2 Chronicles 12:14 AMP
  • Woe (judgment is coming) to those who go down to Egypt for help,
    Who rely on horses
    And trust in chariots because they are many,
    And in horsemen because they are very strong,
    But they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek and consult the Lord! Isaiah 31:1 AMP

Seek God early

  • Early in the day: O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. Psalm 63:1 NKJV
  • Early in life: Remember [thoughtfully] also your Creator in the days of your youth [for you are not your own, but His], before the evil days come or the years draw near when you will say [of physical pleasures], “I have no enjoyment and delight in them” Ecclesiastes 12:1 AMP

Heart cry of seekers

  • My heart and my flesh cry out for8 the living God. Psalm 84:2 NKJV
  • I will behave wisely in a perfect way. Oh, when will You come to me? Psalm 101:2 NKJV
  • As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. Psalm 42:1 NKJV
  • I will see Him for myself; my eyes will behold Him, and not as a stranger. How my heart yearns within me! Job 19:27 BSB

How does one seek God?

1. Worship

Search=specifically to worship
Find=to come forth {to} that {is} appear
In other words, when one worships God with all their heart, God’s Presence appears i.e. one has an Encounter with God.

2. Fasting

  • Fasting: Jehoshaphat was afraid and turned his attention to seek the LORD; and he proclaimed a period of fasting throughout Judah. 2 Chronicles 20:3 NASB

3. Prayer with Fasting

 
  • Prayer with Fasting: So I directed my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth and ashes. Daniel 9:3 AMP

Permanent vacancy in Heaven

  • the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. John 4:23 NKJV

Seek also

  • Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1 AMP
  • But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also. Matthew 6:33 AMP
